There is a planet with the exact conditions necessary to support human life! It is the right size to create the exact level of gravity needed to hold onto an atmosphere, and it appears to be a nice distance from its sun. This planet features plentiful water, farmable land, and a number of different climates for people to live in. There is even a rich animal and plant life already present!
It has been called "paradise" and "heaven" to those who have seen it.
Here's the thing: its life-friendly climate is shifting. In 50 years, there will be significantly less arable land and the air quality may require masks. In 100 years the entire climate of the planet will have shifted in a major way and it may be much more difficult to sustain life.
We can change it, of course. We could go there, make some changes, and this planet could support us indefinitely. Indefinitely! Are you in?
OH WAIT.
The planet is earth. We are such a bunch of dummies we would rather leave our paradise behind and colonize a new planet than put some effort into changing our ways. THIS PLANET is an amazing gift that could support human life indefinitely if we stopped being so ridiculous, for pete's sake!
