Singalong! Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths

There's something about this song that I just love.  Taken at face value it's quite sad: a man who has lost all hope is begging with life/God/the universe to give him what he wants, just this once, before he gives up completely. At another scan, though, isn't this how we all think when faced with life's challenges?  No matter how lucky we've been, overall in life, faced with a dry spell or a bout of bad luck and all of a sudden we are beset with tragedy and desperate to get what we want, "just this once".

Even just the title "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want", is really just the rallying cry of our lives, isn't it?
