Here Are Some of My Collages

I've been making collages! Here are some of my faves:

Collage art. The main feature is a flying saucer with a beam of light pulling up into it a cupcake, globe, front of a pig, and a candy heart that says "be true" on it. There are a few more flying saucers around. The background is abstract, a mottled pink and yellow.

A piece of collage art. The background is a photo of a lake with glass-still water and some trees on the far side. In the foreground is a woman with a helmet over her head holding a doughnut in one hand and a black rabbit on her shoulder. In the background is an astronaut horizontal over the water, like they will smack into it with their whole front. There are three doughnuts above them, attached with strings like maybe they are balloons that will hold the astronaut up.

Collage art. The background is a flat shot of water, like a lake or ocean. The top of a giant salt shaker emerges into the image from the top left, and coloured lines come out of it as if it's salting the water with colour. There is a woman floating in the middle of the water. On the bottom right is a cat, just its eyes and ears poking out of the water.

Collage art. It's a still lake with some slight waves on the water and trees on the other side. In the centre of the lake stands an astronaut on the water, with some flowers behind its back. Emerging from the water is a green hand holding a crystal ball and next to that is a very small cactus. The text on the picture says "it is real"

Here's Some More Animals on Tinder

Some more from Animals on Tinder! (Catch 'em all on the 'gram!)

If you're unfamiliar, Animals on Tinder is the series wherein I take the very smart, very appealing things people say in their online dating profiles and put them into the mouths of innocent animals.

A simple line drawing of an octopus with a speech bubble saying "will not meet up"

A simple drawing of a koala in a tree with a speech bubble saying "Looking for someone who can keep up and not crumble."

A simple drawing of a hummingbird with a speech bubble that says, "I don't want to do the dumb shit you probably want to do."

A simple drawing of a fish with a speech bubble that says, "I can predict a woman's menstrual cycle."

A simple drawing of a chicken with a speech bubble that says, "I know how to kill."

It's Spoooooky: Scary Stuff Roundup

A creepy looking house that may be haunted. It's big, white, sitting in a foggy mist, with a few lights on at night.

I've always wanted to create a haunted house for adults that is full of the real scary stuff from everyday life.

It would include:

The spine-chilling realization that the only way to get an education is to go into buckets of debt and then knowing you are incredibly unlikely to get a job on the other side!

Owning a home and hearing skittering in the walls. Is it a GHOST??? NO! WORSE! Mice. And YOU are the adult and YOU have to deal with them.

The harrowing moment when your landlord sends a notice saying they are bringing a realtor by to look at the place. The chill in your spine tells you... you are going to have to look for somewhere new to live and rents have DOUBLED since you last moved.

Walking down the street, you suddenly realize that there is a smiling person approaching you. Do you know them from college? Then, it dawns on you and your blood runs cold: they are holding... a CLIPBOARD! You are not sure if they are human or robot, but you do know they are programmed to use social engineering to trap you in a conversation until you buy your freedom back with $20 a month. It's basically modern kidnapping.

Look in your fridge, if you dare -- that hummus. It's been sitting there for... a while. Is it... bad? Or maybe it's okay still? The texture of the surface has changed but is it... YOU CANNOT KNOW, but if you throw it out you are a bad and wasteful person and if you eat it your good deed may be punished!

GIF of a man peaking over a counter, looking around scared. On either side of him on the counter are skulls with lights in their eyes. It is an old, black and white horror movie.
Giphy

The knowledge that your body and mind will slowly... evvvvvvver so slowwwwwly... dry up, break down, and restrict your life until your loved ones (if you even HAVE any) have to fight a giant, bureaucratic health care system to make sure you are taken care of. It's like a zombie movie and a final boss, all in one except the final boss NEVER DIES. It just watches while you do.

Remember how you used to be able to run track, fall down, twist your knee, and not feel anything and now you stub your toe and feel it for days? IT'S HAPPENING!

Climate change.

A GIF of the text "you will have nightmares forever", the text is bouncing around slowly

Me & Ryan Gosling are taking a break

Sad news, guys. Ry Ry and I have done some soul-searching lately, and decided that we need to take a bit of a break.

DON'T WORRY!

Everything is okay! We're still in a Lifelong Relationship That is the Most Significant Relationship in Anyone's Life Ever, we're just both really busy right now, and he feels like all the extra attention he's getting from these posts is too distracting.

Plus, I was running out of pictures to share from our life together. Give us some time to re-collect ourselves and make some new memories. I promise, Ryan will be back.

This does mean that the last Me & Ryan Gosling post will be the last one for a while.

I hope that your hearts will go on.

Here, here, let me help. Here is Ry Ry being hilarious and adorable with Tyler Labine on Breaker High.

Me & Ryan Gosling that time we tried to start a family dance troupe

People have gone crazy for those videos of Ryan Gosling back when he was a dance student in shiny silver pants, but that wasn't his first foray into joining a dance team. Way back in the day, we teamed up with my siblings and cousins to form a family dance troupe! We were gonna be STARS - but then the rest of us decided that was way too much work and left it to Ryan, who carried the torch like a champ.

Did you know that Ryan Gosling and I tried to form a dance group with my siblings and cousins in the 90s? Didn't quite work out.

Me and Ryan Gosling going ice skating

Here's a shot from the time Ryan and I went ice skating. This was right after Vancouver had the Olympics, and we decided it would be really fun to go check out the fancy skating oval they built. It was really just like skating around in circles, but Ry Ry got a kick out of it.

Me & Ryan Gosling, just trying to read

Here's a fun throwback! I think this is around 2002, Ryan and I were chilling (with a cat, of course). I was just trying to get a little reading done, but dear sweet Ry Ry doesn't really like attention being elsewhere. He was so cute, can you blame him?

Me & Ryan Gosling measuring how big my face is

Sometimes when you're posing for a group photo with Ryan, he'll decide he wants to measure how big your face is. Hilarious, Ry Ry!

Me & Ryan Gosling getting touristy in London

You might think that being a lowly regular human person in a lifelong relationship with someone like Ryan Gosling, means that you're always the one running all over the world, following them from place to place, lest you never see them. Not so! Ry Ry is very devoted and actually comes to me more often than I come to him (he can afford more plane tickets than me, after all). About ten years ago (yikes! Time flies!) I had an extended stopover in London, and my sweet guy came out just to see me! (Awwwww!) Here he is getting distracted by some fans while we paused to take a touristy photo.

Me and Ryan Gosling celebrating the royal wedding

Ryan and I are big fans of the Royal Family, so when Will and Kate got married, naturally we had to go for a high tea and celebrate! I surprised him with a replica of Kate's engagement ring, and Ry Ry got so excited about it, he insisted we take a picture. Look at his face, like a kid on Christmas.

Me & Ryan Gosling, that time he crashed a stagette

The first time you have a friend getting married is pretty exciting! You even get to plan your first stagette ever! Ry Ry was so excited about the occasion, he insisted on coming along. No matter how many times I used the words "girls' night", he was not dissuaded, so finally we compromised: he crashed the party for a quick photo op with the bride, and then we moved on. It worked! Party on.

Ryan Gosling crashed my friend's stagette! For real. Totally real. As a part of my equally real lifelong relationship with Ryan Gosling.

Me & Ryan Gosling being very serious at the movies

I am very bad at not smiling on purpose. Sometimes, my friends and my dear Ry Ry decide that they want to see me try to frown, and the result is generally something like this. This particular instance, Ryan was unimpressed with my efforts. He thinks I can do better, but he is just blinded by the high esteem in which he holds me.

Me & Ryan Gosling playing catch

Me and my guy Ry Ry like to play catch - we just play it a little different than everyone else. I yell "CATCH!" and then jump and he has to catch me. It works about 35% of the time.

Me and Ryan Gosling at Fan Expo

Last week Ryan and I went to our first Fan Expo! Basically a convention of all things nerdy (fantasy, sci fi, comic books, anime, etc.), it's a sweet time for those of us who like to indulge our dorky selves. We wanted to dress up, but had to pull together last-minute costumes. I went as River Song from Doctor Who, and Ryan grabbed his lute and called himself a traveling minstrel. I still think he should have worn his Roman Gladiator costume (doesn't he look like Rory - also from Doctor Who?)

Me and Ryan Gosling taking pictures or people taking pictures of us

It's customary before heading out to a fancy event, to take a photo with your date in your fancy garb. When you're going out with a friend, then you do the nice thing and take pictures of each other, maybe at the same time. Ryan always looks sharp, so we're covered in that regard.
